The Whetstone Inn is proud to be a partner with the Marlboro Nordic Ski Club, offering guests staying at the inn complementary access to the club’s network of cross-country ski trails in the center of Marlboro and on the former campus of Marlboro College.

Established in 2020, the club maintains and grooms approximately 15 kilometers of ski trails throughout the center of the town, including trails that come right up to the back door of the inn.

Town Trail and the South Pond loop meander around the town of Marlboro with a highlight being beautiful South Pond. These trails are all on privately-owned land so please respect landowners and stay on the groomed trail. These trails are also open to pedestrians and dogs but we ask that you please keep your four-legged friend on a leash and clean up after them so everyone can enjoy the trail.

The Marlboro Nordic Ski Club is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization created to promote and expand the sport of cross country skiing in the southern Vermont town of Marlboro. It is a member club of the New England Nordic Ski Association and is responsible for trail design, grooming and maintenance of an extensive trail network that winds throughout the former college campus and the Town of Marlboro.

While access to the trails is free for inn guests, we also encourage guests to support the work of the club by making a tax-deductible donation.

Ski Rentals

Neither the inn nor the ski club are able to offer ski rentals at this time, but equipment rentals are available from Burrows Sports in Brattleboro.
